Estimated live weight of growing Pêga breed donkeys Ciência Rural
Moreira,Camilla Garcia; Balieiro,Júlio César de Carvalho; Menezes,Madalena Lima; Ribeiro,Gabriela; Nascimento,Olivia Carmen de Araújo; Brandi,Roberta Ariboni.
ABSTRACT: The equations available in the literature to estimate the body weight (BW) of Pêga breed donkeys were evaluated using 25 animals aged 0-6 months and it was proposed an equation for BW prediction. For the measurement of the thoracic perimeter (TP) and for weighing the animals using the weighing tape, the animals were positioned in a forced station on a steep slope. An electronic scale was used for the determination of the BW. Accuracy of linear and nonlinear equations described in the literature was tested for BW prediction based on the animals’ TP, followed by the comparison of these equations with the equation developed in the present study for BW prediction of Pêga breed donkeys. A difference was noted (P<0.001) between the weights obtained...

Estimation of aerial biomass of dry forest species from north of Bahia State, Brazil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Mendonça, Andrea Vita Reis; Souza, Josival Santos; Giulietti, Ana Maria; Van Den Berg, Cassio.
Allometric equations were developed for estimating individual plant biomass for ten species in an area of dry forest in northern of Bahia State, Brazil in the medium-lower São Francisco Basin, in Casa Nova and Remanso Counties. Fifteen individuals were sampled for each species  , except for Chamaecrista belemii, that had 30 sampled individuals . The assessed models were those proposed in the literature and constructed by the forward and backward methods, adjusted on the soil level diameter (SLD) and total height (H) for each plant. It was obtained equations for estimating the aerial biomass for individual trees of Byrsonima gardneriana, Cenostigma macrophyllum, Chamaecrista belemii, Copaifera coriacea, Maytenus rigida, Ruprechtia glauca, Strychno...

Mathematical modeling applied to the growth of tilapia in net cages in the sub middle of the São Francisco river REA
Sousa Júnior,José de A. de; Garrido,Marlon da S.; Carvalho,Paulo G. S. de; Rocha,Luciano G. da; Campeche,Daniela F. B..
This study aimed to apply mathematical models to the growth of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) reared in net cages in the lower São Francisco basin and choose the model(s) that best represents the conditions of rearing for the region. Nonlinear models of Brody, Bertalanffy, Logistic, Gompertz, and Richards were tested. The models were adjusted to the series of weight for age according to the methods of Gauss, Newton, Gradiente and Marquardt. It was used the procedure "NLIN" of the System SAS® (2003) to obtain estimates of the parameters from the available data. The best adjustment of the data were performed by the Bertalanffy, Gompertz and Logistic models which are equivalent to explain the growth of the animals up to 270 days of rearing. From the...

Modelo matemático del ecosistema de la Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta OceanDocs
Tuchkovenko, Y.S.; Calero, L.A..
The structure of the chemical – biological block of two-dimensional mathematical model of ecosystem and shallow reservoir and his methods of calibration is described in detail. The model includes the balance equations for the following components of ecosystem: phytoplankton, bacteria, zooplankton, dead (organic) matter, phosphate, ammonium, nitrite, nitrate and dissolved oxygen. Results of calculations of spatial distribution of several components of the ecosystem for the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta coastal lagoon (Colombia) in various seasons of year are given.
